Its nearly time for Away Being our pop up exhibition to celebrate a new concerto for a new year! On Sunday afternoon January 4th 2015, Gallery 1 at St Margaret’s House will be buzzing with musicians, artists and creatives. Enterprise Music Scotland together with The Thrive Archive have commissioned composer and multi talented musician Mike Vass to write Coming Home, a piece of music inspired by the images of abandoned croft houses by Ian Paterson and John Maher that featured in their Leaving Home exhibition in 2013 in Stornoway. Mike and Thrive curator Jan Bee Brown have worked with the talented young musicians of the Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin Big Band to develop the music and envelope art work and their performance is at 2pm. We hope to flash-mob this concerto throughout 2015 in cities and villages throughout Scotland.
